The Georgia Avenue Walmart is newly constructed and opened at the intersection of Georgia Avenue NW and Missouri Avenue NW in the revitalized neighborhood of Brightwood in Washington, DC. This urban-friendly concept, designed and realized by MWA Architects, provides a smaller footprint than a traditional “big box” retail store and utilizes many “green” design aspects to complement the city setting of northwest DC. The store encompasses 106,000 square feet of retail and grocery, with two levels of underground parking. Many architectural features were integrated into the design from the previously standing car barn structure in the main atrium of the new store.
