christopher provided a range of surveying services to F.H. Paschen for the design and construction of Old Town Square, a new community park in the City of Fairfax, Virginia. The park includes a two-tiered plaza, an interactive water feature with a splash pad, a cascading water feature, a memorial garden area, and preservation and enhancement of the existing Kitty-Pozer Garden. The park also includes two parking lots with permeable brick paver parking stalls, to manage flow of visitors to the park and improve stormwater runoff on the site.
Other project tasks for Old Town Square included multiple retaining walls, ADA compliant brick pedestrian walkways, two storage sheds with connecting pergola structure, landscaping, protection of existing infrastructure and vegetation, lighting, supporting utility infrastructure including water lines, sanitary sewer lines, electrical duct banks and storm drainage.
Services provided by christopher for Old Town Square included horizontal and vertical control, as-built surveys, curb and gutter stakeout, stakeout of the retaining wall and sidewalk stakeout. Construction began in July of 2014 and the park opened to the public in May 2015.
christopher has a long history with the City of Fairfax, where our headquarters has been located nearly 40 years. In October of 2019, christopher was awarded two Term Contracts with the City for civil engineering and surveying.
