christopher provided civil engineering and surveying services to Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) under a term contract for design and construction of dam spillway improvements for the 2.5-acre stormwater impoundment pond serving 23 developed acres on campus. The goal of the project included improvements to the dam outfall, a closed pipe outfall for the emergency spillway and improvements to the roadway outfall.
christopher worked with our subconsultant, Schnabel, who provided final technical design of the spillway changes along with improvements to the roadway outfall located on the south side of the dam embankment. christopher coordinated Schnabel’s design and prepared the full set of construction drawings for the project, including existing condition plans, staging and storage, grading plans, demolition plans, and erosion/sediment control. christopher also provided surveying services including aerial topographic surveys and field surveys for the construction area with inverts to the existing pipe structures.
The scope also included the design and installation of two piezometers. The christopher team coordinated the work around the NVCC weekday school schedule to avoid impacting school operations.
