Civil engineering, surveying and landscape architecture services were provided for the new 60,340 SF Public Safety Firing Range for the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office in Leesburg, Virginia.
Project efforts included field surveying, programming and conceptual design, Special Exception and Commission permitting and processing, community outreach and construction documents for all civil/site design and landscape architecture. The scope of civil engineering and landscaping services include the design of roadway improvements on Shreve Mill Road (Route 653) and the addition of a left-turn lane onto Evergreen Mill Road (Route 621), right-of-way and easement acquisition services, construction administration services and environmental permitting.
The new facility includes three masonry structures. The first 54,340 SF building will feature two state-of-the-art, fully tactical indoor walkdown ranges: a 10-point, 100-yard range and an 18-point, 50-yard range equipped with sidewall bullet traps to support 180-degree target engagement, locker rooms, classrooms and office space. The second 6,000 SF structure features a two-story submunitions force-on-force training building with classrooms and a 360-degree force simulator training room. The third structure is a 300 SF building which will contain water treatment equipment for on-site wells.
