christopher provided comprehensive civil engineering design services, environmental, and surveying services to the Fairfax County Park Authority for the redevelopment of the Lake Fairfax Park marina complex. Lake Fairfax Park’s 476 acres features an 18-acre lake, The Water Mine – an outdoor swimming pool with water park features, seasonal fishing, campgrounds, picnic areas, trails, a carousel and playground, restrooms, boat house and new administration building.
Phase one of the project included the demolition of the existing dock, boathouse and access stairway. Construction included a new dock, installation of handicapped accessible floating docks, boathouse, handicapped accessible ramp/route to the marina facilities and construction of new stairways to access the marina. Tasks included preparing site grading and utility plans, layout plans, erosion and sediment control plans, landscape plans, utility profiles, SWM/BMP design, drainage design, construction details, and site permits, waivers, and approval processing. Surveying services included topographic surveying, establishing horizontal and vertical control, hydrographic survey of lake area and dam, utility as-built surveys, vegetation survey, record plat and easement plat preparation, and stakeout site improvements.
Phase 2 included submitting site plans for an administration building, restrooms, 130-space parking lot, vending kiosks, utilities, and eleven rain gardens.
christopher held a term contract with the Fairfax County Park Authority for ten years and completed over 80 task orders. Other projects completed under this contract include Nottaway Park, the Gerry Connolly Cross Country Trail at Wakefield Park, and Monticello Park.
