Chapman Stables

christopher consultants provided civil engineering and landscape architecture services for the renovation and addition to the existing historic Chapman Coal Company Garage and Stables building for use as a residential apartment building. The apartment building, which contains 114 rental units, consists of a one-story addition with a mezzanine above the historic building, as well as a five-story addition connected to the rear of the historic portion of the building. The project also includes one level of below-grade parking. Project efforts include concept site planning, site demolition plans, design development plans, SWM/BMP, preparation of construction documents, construction administration and landscape architecture services.

The Chapman Stables yard, designated a historic landmark, was built in stages between 1906 and 1916 and served as a coal yard, stable and garage. The project has undergone review and approval by the Historic Preservation Review Board.
