christopher provided engineering and surveying services to DLR Group for Benning Stoddert Recreation Center. The project involved the modernization of this aging recreation center located in the Ward 7 corridor, off Minnesota Avenue and East Capitol Streets in Washington, DC. Improvements to the 12,180 SF recreation center include a large, multi-purpose space, a competition-sized gymnasium, meeting space, locker rooms, administrative space, classrooms, a kitchen, a playground and ADA compatibility improvements.
Benning Stoddert Recreation Center is anticipated to achieve LEED Gold certification. Project efforts included conceptual and schematic design, construction documents, construction administration and topographic surveys. Additional services also included upgrading the site to meet current stormwater management requirements, tree preservation and landscape architecture.
