THE PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY ZONING ORDINANCE

The new County-wide Map Amendment was approved last fall and the new Zoning Ordinance, Zoning Map, and Subdivision Regulations are scheduled to take effect April 1, 2022. Changes to zoning are intended to align zoning code with Plan Prince George’s 2035 to support the County’s vision for smart growth and economic development. What could this mean for your project?

THE 3 BIGGEST CHANGES
  • Encouraging mixed-use and transit-oriented development. Increasing density permitted in certain zones.
  • Increased flexibility for land uses on mixed-use, commercial, multifamily, and industrial sites.
  • Modern and consolidated zones that include changes to land use classifications and also changes to permitted land uses in certain zones.
