christopher consultants is pleased to announce that John Rinaldi, AICP, MLA, BES (Plan) has been promoted to Vice President of Planning and Landscape Architecture.
John has been with christopher since 2001, and became a shareholder in 2016. Since beginning with the firm, John has been instrumental in growing the team from a few specialized employees to a full division of professionals including planners, registered landscape architects and certified arborists.
In his new role, John will continue to serve christopher’s clients, develop his team, broaden the services provided and help lead christopher to accomplish its 2030 goals. John will be filling the role of his mentor and previous VP, Lou Canonico, P.E., who will continue with christopher as a Land Use Specialist.
“In working with John I have come to appreciate his unique combination of attention to detail and tremendous creativity. He works hard to satisfy all who depend on him,” said Lou.
John Rinaldi has over twenty years of experience in planning, urban design, landscape architecture and engineering experience in both Canada and the United States. John obtained his undergraduate degree in urban planning from the University of Waterloo and a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Guelph. As a native of Canada, John recently earned his U.S. citizenship.
Through his many years at the firm, John has been able to work on numerous regional projects, obtaining considerable experience with legislative and entitlement applications, concept design and master planning, condemnation zoning cases, and project management. Regional landmarks such as Springfield Town Center, Harbor Station and INOVA Center for Innovative Health are just a few of his projects. John works very closely with his clients to ensure projects are high-quality, creative and completed on time and within budget. He is known for his hard work, dedication and commitment to both his clients and the firm, with a positive and friendly attitude in the workplace.

Outside the office, “Rinaldi” is a very passionate tennis player and enjoys golfing. He also spends time travelling with his wife Danielle to experience architecture, urban design, sports stadiums and arenas.
