Wrapping up National Safety Month, our Safety Officer Federico would like to share some of his favorite apps when it comes to safety. All of these come in handy to keep you and your co-workers safe on site as well as your loved ones safe at home.

OSHA-NIOSH Heat Safety Tool. This app allows workers and supervisors to calculate the heat index for their work site, and based on that heat index, displays a risk level to outdoor workers. Then, with a simple click, the app sends you reminders about the protective measures that you should take at that risk level to protect yourself from heat-related illnesses, such as: drinking enough fluids, scheduling rest breaks, adjusting work operations, etc. Keep in mind that working in full sunlight can increase the heat index by 15 degrees Fahrenheit.

The FEMA App. This app is the best option to receive emergency alerts and information so that you and your loved ones know what to do before, during and after disasters. This simple and easy-to-use app provides safety notifications, emergency preparedness tips and disaster resources.

American Red Cross First Aid. The official American Red Cross First Aid app puts expert advice for everyday emergencies right in your hand. The app uses videos, interactive quizzes and simple step-by-step advice to teach you the basics of first aid for every situation.

Thank you for joining us this month to discuss important safety topics. We hope you have found this information useful and proactively engage in keeping yourself and others safe!
