Congratulations to Katie McDaniel, PE, on earning two stormwater management (SWM) certifications from the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). Katie is now certified for Stormwater Management Plan Review and as a Stormwater Management Inspector.
Katie’s SWM Plan Reviewer certification allows her to review plans for municipalities to ensure they are in conformance with the DEQ, as well as local ordinance regulations. This has also led to a deeper understanding of the SWM items that need to be in christopher’s plans being prepared for review.
The SWM Inspector certification allows Katie to conduct inspections of Best Management Practices (BMPs) during and after construction for contractors or local jurisdictions. The records of these inspections will be kept with the record drawings until the BMP is removed in the future.
Katie attended courses taught by DEQ staff in order to sit for the certification exams. Her inspector exam was passed in August 2017 and her plan reviewer exam in September 2018. She now plans to pursue a Stormwater Management Program Administrator Certification.
