christopher consultants is pleased to announce that Tucker Travis, Project Manager in our Suburban Land Division, has recently obtained his Fairfax County Designated Plans Examiner (DPE) status. The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors voted to accept the recommendation of the Fairfax County Advisory Plans Examiner Board approving his application for DPE status on January 23, 2018.

The application process to become a DPE in Fairfax County is a significant commitment that takes over 12 months to accomplish and requires a high level of expertise in plan review. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications that include a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering or a related field OR six years of experience in plan design or review; successful completion of both semesters and the appropriate jurisdictional portions of the Land Development Engineering program; completion of a specified number of hours of jurisdictional peer review; and two years of plan design or review experience in the jurisdiction of practice.

As a DPE, Tucker will be able to review and approve new site plans, ensuring that all legal codes are being followed. He will also check that proper building permits have been obtained and that the plans meet public health and safety standards. The designation requires a large breadth of knowledge in Fairfax County codes and regulations, as well as a skill in accurately reading maps, drawings and plans. The certification is both a professional milestone for Tucker and an asset to christopher consultants for our work in Fairfax County.

christopher has several other DPEs on staff including John Levtov, P.E. and Ann Germain, P.E. in Fairfax County; Mike Kitchen, P.E. in Prince William County; and Chris Lemon, P.E., LEED AP in Loudoun County.

Please join us in congratulating Tucker!
