christopher project Burke Junction was awarded “Best Protected Environmentally Sensitive Site” at the Fairfax County Land Conservation Awards on January 27. The project also won in the Large Single Family Residential category.

The award recognized the outstanding efforts made by the project team in employing responsible land disturbance techniques and good construction practices to protect the properties and resources of Fairfax County. This achievement included overcoming particular challenges on the Burke Junction site included proximity to a busy road, the presence of steep C and D slopes and highly erodible soil.

christopher provided civil engineering, landscape architecture, land planning and surveying on the site. Project efforts included initial feasibility investigation of the property, conceptual design and rezoning entitlement road improvements, stormwater management plans and landscape plans. Accepting the award on christopher’s behalf were Project Manager John Levtov and landscape architect and arborist Jana Morgan.

Also recognized on the Burke Junction project team were developer K. Hovnanian Homes, Project Manager Kevin Chapman, Project Superintendent Tony Schumate, and contractor William A. Hazel, Inc.
